Cannabis with Purpose
Cannabinoids
- the release of dopamine, resulting in feelings of relaxation;
- a physical response, such as reduced inflammation or an increase in hunger; and
- effects on various regions of the brain, including the hippocampus (memory), the frontal cortex (thinking and decision-making) and the cerebellum (physical movement and coordination).
CBD (cannabidiol): Unlike THC, CBD generally has no intoxicating effect. CBD interacts with the human Endocannabinoid System by encouraging the release of our own endocannabinoids.
Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that are produced naturally in our bodies and in some plants; they’re called endocannabinoids in humans and phytocannabinoids in plants.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most common cannabinoid in cannabis, and although it can have an effect on both mind and body, it has little to no intoxicating effect. It’s found in the trichomes on the flower of many cannabis strains, including hemp.
Strains are commonly broken up into three distinct groups: indica, sativa, and hybrid. Most consumers have used two of these three cannabis types (indica and sativa) as a way to predict effects.
While cannabis producers may link the use of their products to specific desired effects, such as energy, calm, sleepiness or hunger, these claims have not been backed by substantiated scientific studies. Here is what is generally accepted as true among cannabis consumers.
- Indica strains are generally known to be physically sedating.
- Sativa strains are generally known to be energizing with uplifting cerebral effects.
- Hybrid strains are generally known to be a balance/mix of indica and sativa effects.
Effects of Cannabis:
Cannabis effects depend on many factors, such as your genetic makeup, frequency of use, age, sex, current mood and personality, and any existing mental health conditions.
Customers should do their own unbiased research when shopping for and choosing cannabis products Ultimately, the best way to know how cannabis will affect you is through personal experience.
Begin with a product that is lower in THC and CBD potency, and use a small amount to see how it affects you.

Secreted in the same glands that produce cannabinoids like THC and CBD, terpenes are aromatic oils that color cannabis varieties with distinctive flavors like citrus, berry, pepper, mint and pine.
Terpenes may play a role in differentiating the effects of various cannabis strains. Some terpenes might promote relaxation and stress-relief, while others potentially promote focus and acuity.
